Yes, it’s true.
Shochu (single distillation Shochu) is far superior to Wine in terms of preventing Blood Clots in vessels.
According to the American Heart Association found several benefits in moderate alcohol consumption. Alcohol consumption improves health and longevity because it is effective in reducing the occurrence of a broad range of heart diseases, especially strokes in both men and women, regardless of age or ethnicity. Also, it reduces stress, blood insulin level, and increases HDL cholesterol (good cholesterol) and fibinolsis, the enzyme that breaks up thrombosis (blood clotting).
Hiroyuki Sumi, MD, PhD at Kurashiki University of Science and the Arts studies the physiology of the cardiovascular system and specializes in the research of Fibrinolsis that breaks up blood clots in vessels. His research shows that intake of Shochu breaks up blood clots in vessels and prevents the occurrence of heart infractions and brain aneurysms better than any other type of alcohol. It contains 1.5 times more enzymes than red wine.
And Shochu is also a low calorie drink, about 35 calories per 2 oz. Like other types of spirits, Shochu is distilled. This means that through the distillation process, excess extracts and other minerals are removed leaving a product that is low in sugar and calories then other alcoholic drinks. In Japan, it’s a well known practice that medical professionals allow those with diabetic and gout conditions to drink Shochu.
