Mystery of Sake: Jizake Investigation
a Jizake Tasting for a Cause

Each year Mutual Trading has helped Little Tokyo Service Center in continuing its mission in “Helping People, Building Community". For Mutual Trading, it’s our fourth year to support this worthwhile cause, and at the same time, to bring the Japanese food culture closer to the public.

Following the successful “La Vida Sake" event in 2008, was this year’s “Mystery of Sake: Jizake Investigation". It’s the largest continuing sake tasting event in Southern California with eight hundred guests in attendance. Sake was provided by Mutual Trading as twenty breweries from Japan showcased their hand crafted artisan sake for audiences to investigate. Japanese brewery reps made rare special appearances to pour their own brands, some of which were being hand-carried for a never-seen, exclusive tasting during the VIP program.

In tune with our theme this year: Mystery of Sake: Get a clue! Jizake Investigation, guests were intellectually stimulated as breweries shared their esoteric sake brewing methods and were challenged with quizzes and guessing games.

This year, as an added bonus, Mutual Trading was honored by LTSC with the Fu-Re-Ai award as recognition for our active support and contribution to the Little Tokyo community in Los Angeles where Mutual Trading has been based for 84 years. We were quite humbled by this, and are motivated to strengthen our commitment for public service and relationship with the community as well as vendors who provide Japanese food under the mission of “Bringing the flavor of Japan to the people of the world."
